There is this notion in the body of Christ that God only speaks to a chosen and anointed few. That's not true. The fact is He speaks to everyone. Yes, that includes you!
“For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it.” Job 33:14 NLT
God has even spoken to shysters like Laban in a dream and wicked, prideful kings like Belshazzar with His handwriting on a wall. In contrast, Samuel heard God’s voice calling him, Peter had a vision and Paul had a divine disruption that changed his course. Hearing God’s voice is not a one-size-fits-all.
Once when I was about to end my prayer time early, I felt like Holy Spirit wanted me to stay. I thought to myself, what could He possibly say in 5 minutes. Then, I heard, “Shema.” I retorted, “That's not even a word!”🤦🏽♀️😒
With much patience and a mic drop, He said, “Look it up.” To my surprise, it's an important Jewish prayer recorded in Deuteronomy 6:4-9😳.
A snippet of the prayer and Scripture passage are below:
She-ma yisrael, adonai eloheinu, adonai echad.
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” Deuteronomy 6:4-5 NKJV
If you long to hear God, get alone with Him and ask Him to speak to you. If you want to be fancy, put on worship music and worship Him. The spirit of prophecy is invoked through praise and worship. Next, just listen and write what you hear or see. If you hear or see a word or picture you don't understand, ask for clarification or research it. You’ll be surprised what you find.
Beware of the enemy, he is a liar! Don't listen if he tries to tell you that you can't hear God. You can.
God loves to share His secrets and His plans for your life with you. The Holy Spirit is in you, so the word is already in you. Wrestle for it until you birth it! Don't give up and don't let Him go until He speaks to you.
Do you hear God’s voice? What is He speaking to you?
Key verses:
“Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.”
Jeremiah 33:3 NLT
